Glastonbury Carnival 2017

(CLICK ON A PIC AND IT WILL GO BIG)

A little late to the party but perhaps the effect will be greater as memories are rekindled from the night. I am a big fan of Carnival in Somerset. The epitome of true culture. It has history, meaning and community involvement with the added benefit of a cracking night out. So where better to rise to the challenge of film photography of bright lights at night. For practical purposes I was using my Canon A1 with the f1.4 50mm SCC lens. Fast lens, easy and compact to use loaded with Ilford Delta 400 pushed to 3200. This let me keep the settings in a sensible zone of f5.6 at 250. This is the second time I've done this at the Carnival and I was really happy with the results. So enjoy a blast from the past at the 2017 Glastonbury carnival.

Santa in a box....... in November!!

My favourite I think

Rather abstract

Always a sense of comedy

These last two are quite scarily surreal with a definite air of 19th and early 20th Century Panto

Glastonbury Tor like you've never seen it before

(CLICK ON A PIC AND IT WILL GO BIG)

This is a little fun project I've had in mind for a while. On yet another rather grey Bank Holiday bereft of new ideas I remembered this idea plus I had a film loaded in the Pentax 67ii waiting to be used. Unfortunately I couldn't remember what it was so I played it safe and didn't use a red filter. The project was based on the fact that you can drive around Glastonbury and catch glimpses of the Tor between the hedges etc plus everyone takes a pic of the Tor itself. My idea was to take pics with something strategically placed in front of it. Funny enough it was rather difficult to find interesting things that lined up perfectly. I did get a couple but there were lots like the chimney near the Red Brick buildings which annoyingly sat just beneath it. Anyway enjoy the view of the Tor like you've never seen it before! All Shot on Ilford Delta 100 using either the 105mm f2.4 or 165mm f3.5 lens on the Pentax 67ii

I spent ages creeping up on this Buzzard which was perched on a stump but the hedge was in the way. It would have been a cracker but it flew off and went over the Tor.
